If any of
you need a
great
companion,
now is your
chance.
PLEASE!
1. 6-7 year
old Basset
Hound (I
would take
it in a
heartbeat,
but it
wouldn't be
good for it
to have to
climb our
stairs.)
2. Medium
size mixed
breed - this
ones needs a
country
home, as it
loves to run
& play
3. 2
wire-haired
terriers
I THINK all
of these
have been
fixed. I
know they've
had their
rabies
shots.

Watch
Your
Vehicle!
There have
been several
reports of
vehicles
being

around the
Sargent area
over the

Although it
may seem
that the
damage is
not much,
incidents
such as this
need to be

Had Your Vehicle
inspected lately?
The State of Texas Environmental Control is attempting
to bring Matagorda County into the same Vehicle
Inspection regulations as residents of Harris and
surrounding counties. What does this mean for you? It
means a $40+ inspection instead of the $14.50 you now
have. It means a much more rigorous inspection of your
exhaust system. It also means fewer inspection stations,
as the equipment needed to do these inspections is quite
costly. Your Matagorda County officials are rigorously
fighting this proposal – hopefully more information
coming soon.
Attention: Sargent
Business Owners
Sargent’s News will begin work on the “2012 Sargent
Business Directory” immediately after the holidays. We
hope to have it out by the end of February. For those of
you not familiar with the directory, it is much like a
phone book yellow pages. Local businesses are listed by
category (i.e. “Restaurants”, “Realtors”, etc.) with
your business name, address or e-mail address & phone
numbers. We distribute 3,000 of these through the year.
The cost this year will be $15 for your 1st listing. If
you have more than one listing or need listing under
multiple categories, additional lines will be $10 each.
Pretty good price for a year’s worth of advertising!
Deadline for your ad is January 31. Send in your
information & payment to:

It was Palm Sunday and because of a sore throat,
5-year old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter.
When the family returned home, they were carrying
several palm branches. The boy asked what they were for.
“People held them over Jesus’ head as he walked by.”
“wouldn’t you just know it,” the boy fumed, “The one
Sunday I don’t go, he shows up!”

We Should All Speak Up!
The following letter was a class project for 11 year old Shelby
Finuff. Each member of her class was asked to write a letter to
be sent to a soldier. Shelby is the niece of Sargent’s “Sarge”
Goff. We thought you might enjoy reading . . .
My name is Shelby Marie Finuff and I would like to thank the men
and women that have served and are still serving for my freedom
today. I am so grateful to have all of these wonderful people
that protect me and my country. I consider you all my HEROES! I
know all of you have sacrificed so much for me and our country
and I know I could never say enough words to describe how much I
appreciate that. I want to give you all a big bear hug and bring
happiness to your lives from a little girl with a big heart!
Since I’m not able to give you all a hug I hope with all of my
heart that you will accept a long distance air hug with a big I
Love You and Thank You so much. God bless each and every one of
you.
Forever Grateful,
Shelby Finuff
